If you do not have any of Gods promises in memory, you do not have the armour to defeat the devil with.
To defeat the devil you need to know what God promise you. Personalize the promises God. Exsample: God promise me eternal life, God promise me He would hear my prayer.
The
list of promises you made, now confirm those promises with scriptures.
Write out beside the promises you have on your list where they are in
the bible. Next memorize those bible verses, then defeat the demons of
hell with them.
If you did not have any of the Lord promises
memorized, now is a good time to start. Ask the Father to lead you with
the Holy Spirit in reading the bible and find the promises God has
promise you. (Memorized them)

Walking In The Light + Walking In Gods Promises + Memorize Gods Promises + Personalize Gods Promises.
Faith cometh by hearing the word of God = knowledge
It
came to past on a certain day Jesus went into a ship with His disciples
and said lets go to the other side. As they sailed to the other side
Jesus fell asleep and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and
they were filled with water and were in jeopardy. The disciples went to
awake Jesus saying master, master, we perish. Jesus arose and rebuked
the wind and raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was calm.
Jesus asks them where their faith was. The disciples being afraid
wondered, saying one to another, what manner of man is this! For he
commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him.
One of the lessons we learn from the above passage of scripture is that faith is link to knowledge. They said what manner of man is this that the winds obey Him.
They did not realize the power and authority of Jesus = lack of knowledge = lack of faith
Many times the devil takes advantage of us because we don't know the promises God has made to us. That is why it is so important to memorize the promises of God.
Satan
brings storms to our lives in many different forms. A list of three in
the following that Satan and his demons use to stop us cold in our
tracks:
1. Guilt of the present
2. Guilt of the past
3. Unworthiness
Guilt of the present:
The devil will be sure to remind us of our shortcomings, and the next
thing you know you will be like the disciples thinking you are going to
perish and not make it to the other side.
We need to know Gods promises concerning our shortcomings. Regardless of the cause of those shortcomings.
Romans 3:25
WHOM GOD HAS SET FORTH TO BE A PROPITIATION THROUGH FAITH IN HIS BLOOD,
TO DECLARE HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS THAT ARE PAST,
THROUGH THE FORBEARANCE OF GOD.
WE ARE JUSTIFIED BY FAITH WITHOUT THE DEEDS OF THE LAW. Romans 3:28. Note: Not by any deeds (performance) that we can do.
Romans 4:6,7,8 Explain why we do not never need to feel guilt of the past, present, or future.
When the devil tempts you with guilt quote the following scriptures to him.
6. EVEN AS DAVID DESCRIBETH THE BLESSEDNESS OF THE MAN, UNTO WHOM GOD IMPUTETH RIGHTEOUSNESS WITHOUT WORKS.
7. Saying, BLESSED ARE THEY WHOSE INIQUITIES ARE FORGIVEN, AND WHOSE SINS ARE COVERED.
8. BLESSED IS THE MAN TO WHOM THE LORD WILL NOT IMPUTE SIN.
Believe and trust Gods promises and the storm will cease and there will be calm.
Know what Gods promises are concerning your standing with Him.
The devil will try to make you feel unworthy especially when you are praying for the needs in your life or victory over a certain sin.
Praying in Jesus name means more than just ending our prayer in Jesus name.
It is being clothed in His righteousness.
Do not allow Satan
to tell you are unworthy to pray, you have the gift of righteous, that
is what God has given you, He imputed righteous to you when you were
saved.
Memorize the verses of scripture concerning your standing with God. Then choose which you will believe, Satan says you are unworthy to pray, God says you are righteous, who are you going to believe, God are Satan? As for me, I am going to believe God.
Jesus said do not pray in a repetitions manner.
Repeating the same thing over and over is one way the devil deceives
you when you pray. Satan will keep bringing up the past sins and have
you praying for forgiveness of sins that God has already forgiven. The devil will have you acting like God did not hear you so you need to pray it over repeatedly.
God knows what you need before you ask Him. In fact, God knows before you even think it.
First, memorize the promises. Romans 4:7 Blessed are they whose INIQUITIES ARE FORGIVEN, and whose SINS ARE COVERED.
James 5:16 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
If
I ask you a question, are you righteous what would you say? If you said
yes, that would be correct, and you would be giving God honor and glory
because you would believe what God says instead of what the devil says.
You would be saying Jesus blood is sufficient and has made you righteous. There is power in the blood of Jesus; the devil does not like you to think that way because that defeats him.
Romans 5:19 For as by one man’s (Adam) disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus) shall many be made righteous.
Just
as you did nothing to make you a sinner, you were born that way. You
can do nothing to make yourself righteous, accept believe in the Lord
Jesus Christ as your savior and you receive the gift of righteous.
Paul the Apostle tells us to walk in the steps of the faith of Abraham.
Romans 4:20-21
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.
21 And being fully persuaded that, what He had promise, He was able also to perform.
